About us
The Latvian Association of Anthropologists (LAB) was established to unite Latvian anthropologists and create an intellectually stimulating environment in which to develop this branch of science. The association unites not only those who have studied anthropology as a specialty at the university, but also those who engage with the theories, topics and data of anthropology in their work.
The main task of the Latvian Association of Anthropologists is to popularize and strengthen the field of anthropology in Latvia. To achieve this, LAB:

regularly organizes lectures in which LAB members or specially invited lecturers talk about the latest research that relates to or may be of interest to Latvian anthropologists;

works towards the strengthening of anthropology as an academic discipline in Latvia;

coordinates and disseminates information on opportunities to cooperate both with anthropologists in Latvia and abroad;

coordinates and disseminates information on opportunities to study anthropology;

is engaged in providing consultations to state and local government institutions, providing anthropological expertise on issues of importance in Latvia.
LAB is a member of the Council of World Anthropological Societies.
What is the member's contribution?
The annual membership fee is 15 euros.
